where every animal matters

The Tierschutzverein Swakopmund (SPCA)  is a local independent Registered Welfare Organisation established in 1970, solely relying on public funding and donations.

Our mission is to provide a safe, well maintained sanctuary for domestic cats and dogs in our care whilst waiting to be re-homed. They are safely and lovingly accommodated at our animal shelter where they also receive veterinary care when needed until they can be re-homed to qualifying persons.

Established in 1970 in Swakopmund, we have been serving our community for decades and with public support we will continue to do so. The SPCA Swakopmund have built and maintained a solid reputation through willing volunteers who serve on the committee and have trustworthy staff to run the kennels. Those of you who visit us know that our animals are happy and cared for, and that we ensure that our kennels are well maintained and clean in order for our animals to have a happy home while they wait patiently to be adopted.

Your donations and your generosity help us to pay for the food, utilities, staff salaries, veterinary costs and all other basic running costs. We cannot manage without your help. Please consider making a donation, or become a member and show these orphans that you too are willing to take on the responsibility of caring for those who cannot speak for themselves. Ulitmately, together we make a difference in our community through actions and our love for these beautiful fur buddies.

facilities, membership options or if you would like to donate. We appreciate your support!
